Just before the semester started one of my friends, Kevin, found out he had to drive all the way to NYC just to get some papers signed to study abroad in Italy. So my friends Thomas and Susana and I all went with him on a one day road trip to New York City. It was incredible. I'd never been to the city, and it's unbelievably gorgeous!

Susana and I smiling for the camera as we fill up the car with gas... somewhere in NY. Notice the dumb grin on my face... I will never be photogenic.

A shot of me driving and Susana navigating. This was right after stopping at a Burger King and harassing the poor cashier. I love going places with Thomas.

After making a slick U-turn after a toll-booth, we got back on track and drove by this lovely nucleur plant... wondering how much closer we could get before ending up with cancer.

That's Pace University (above), or part of it at least. My friend Dan went there. And there's a building shot that was really cool (below) but it didn't come out all that well. The building in NY are so unbelievable. Thomas and I walked down the streets babbling about which ones had the best architecture and such. I love Thomas!

This is Kevin, looking thoughtful. Or maybe he's just wondering why he let me drive.

This is a pic that Thomas took out of the front window while Susana and I were yelling to hurry up before we lost the view. It's really not easy to get a clean picture out of the windshield of a car, especially from the backseat.

Crazy drivers that we met on the highway and felt the need to take pics of.

Promptly after getting back on track, we got off track by missing a bridge across the river. For a while I thought we were fine since we were along side a big river, just like the map showed... until I had the presence of mind to notice that we were on the WRONG SIDE of the river. So we took the Tappanzee bridge finally... and got back on track. Again.

Another building shot. I found some of these designs so fascinating and it's really hard to capture what I mean, but they have some absolutely gorgeous churches and such there.

And these are my pics of the September 11th memorials and such. It was a remarkable experience and the whole atmosphere was, obviously, very different there. I'm glad that I was there to see at least part of it. It's wonderful to see people come together like that.
